As part of our series to introduce our business community to major party candidates for New Jersey Governor, Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli will join us on Tuesday, April 2 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM to answer questions from the business community. Hudson County Chamber of Commerce President Emory Edwards will lead the moderated discussion.
A life-long resident of New Jersey, Jack was born in Somerville and raised in the Borough of Raritan where his grandparents immigrated in the early 1900s. Jack and his wife, Melinda, have resided in Hillsborough since 1998, raising four children, now ages 24, 22, 21 and 18. The Ciattarellis are active in the community, with Melinda having served as an officer in the home and school association and Jack having coached his four children in various recreational activities.
Jack and Melinda have also been very active with Raritan Valley Community College and various Somerset County non-profit organizations. Jack earned his Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Masters of Business Administration in Finance at Seton Hall University, where he has also taught as an adjunct professor. Jack is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Jack is a successful entrepreneur and small business owner twice over, having founded two publishing companies, each time working as CEO and Publisher for Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine medical journals.
Jack recently founded and launched a third medical publishing business, this one focused on health information and education for consumers.Jack served on the Raritan Borough Council (1990-1995) and the Somerset County Freeholder Board (2007-2011). During his tenure as a local elected official, Jack served in various leadership positions, including Council President in Raritan Borough and Freeholder Director in Somerset County. After winning election to the New Jersey State Legislature in 2011, Jack was sworn into his Assembly office in January 2012, representing the 16th Legislative District, which includes municipalities in Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex and Somerset counties.
In the State Assembly, Jack sat on the Financial Institutions & Insurance Committee and the Regulated Professions Committee. Jack was a candidate for governor in the 2017 Republican gubernatorial primary. In seeking the Republican nomination for governor, Jack forfeited running for reelection to the State Legislature, where his term as State Assemblyman for the 16th District ended January 2018.
