Introduction:

The Hudson County Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization based in Jersey City, New Jersey. Founded in 1888, the Chamber is the leading resource for driving economic growth and building vibrant communities by connecting, empowering, and advocating for its members. Its founding purpose is to foster, protect and advance the commercial, mercantile, financial, manufacturing, and civic interests of the residents and commercial enterprises located within Hudson County. The Chamber hosts numerous member events annually and provides a variety of services designed to add value to its diverse membership.


Job Summary:

The Manager of Events and Services will work in a busy and fast-paced office, developing a deep understanding of all Chamber programs, activities, partnerships, and public resources that enhance member value. With Chamber staff, the manager will develop, create and produce interesting programming and activities that support member value, interests and goals, while supporting regular, special and signature events and programming. The manager will create promotional materials and marketing tools to drive event sales and member engagement and to support Chamber communications. The manager will support customer service functions including the administrative functions of the Chamber, Board of Directors, and President and CEO.


Duties and responsibilities:

Events 

Drive member value by conceptualizing, producing and promoting programming and events that are responsive to member needs and that drive member value and benefits.

Assist in the ideation, planning, and coordination of all events and activities.

Manage appropriate site selection, negotiation, production and on-site or virtual facilitation of all Chamber programming and events.

Create compelling registration and event pages to promote events and secure payments.

With Chamber staff, identify and secure sponsors for regular, special and signature events to generate Chamber income.

Represent the Chamber at select community and Chamber functions and meetings.

Support the Board of Directors Programs and Events Committee and other Board and member committees as assigned.

Achieve key performance indicators set with the President and CEO.

 

Communications 

Conceptualize, create and produce events collateral and outreach for various communications platforms to support attendance and participation in Chamber programming and events in conjunction with Chamber staff and contractors.

Manage the Chamber website in conjunction with our web host.

Manage Chamber advertising sales, marketing opportunities and income.
 
 

Administration

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and contact information using the Chamber’s CRM.

Invoice and collect event fees, sponsorships and other financial commitments.

Support the bookkeeper by inputting invoices into Quick Books Online and generating checks for bills payment.

Support the President and CEO's daily operations and scheduling.

Other tasks to support effective and efficient office operations as assigned.

Express a deep passion for the business community of Hudson County, NJ, the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce and its mission, vision and values.

Possess a strong desire to curate memorable and valuable member experiences.

Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively and effectively.

Listen and communicate effectively, possess excellent organizational skills and advanced computer skills, and work flexibly in a small office environment.

Self-motivated and managed, possessing strong interpersonal, sales and analytical skills.

An ability to seek creative, ethical, and positive solutions, exploring situations from several points of view to reflect the diversity of our members and communities.


Education, Experience and Physical Demands

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or sales preferred or a related field or 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position consistent with office work.
  • Regularly lift 10 pounds of weight and occasionally up to 25 pounds for presentations and events.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and car to travel as required, or able to travel to member offices and venues for programming activities as required.  
  • Available to work on occasional mornings, evenings or weekends consistent with events.
  • Must be able to work under regular and moderate levels of stress.
