Governor Sherrill Announces NJ Permitting Dashboard Pilot

Governor Mikie Sherrill has marked her 100th day in office with a significant step toward government transparency and efficiency. On April 30, the Governor announced the opening of applications for the NJ Permitting Dashboard Pilot, a new tool designed to streamline and accelerate the permitting process for businesses and residents across the state.

What is the Permitting Dashboard?
The dashboard is a public-facing, "whole-of-government" tool that allows applicants to track the progress of cross-agency permits in a single location. By providing target due dates and real-time status updates, the initiative aims to:

  • Reduce Delays: Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the approval process.
  • Lower Costs: Save businesses time and money by providing a predictable regulatory environment.
  • Increase Accountability: Break down barriers between state agencies to ensure projects stay on track.

Pilot Program Details
The pilot phase will launch this summer with 10 selected projects. The administration is currently seeking applications from projects in the following sectors:

  • Energy infrastructure
  • Commercial development
  • Multi-family housing

Eligible projects must have recently submitted—or be about to submit—permit applications to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Department of Transportation (DOT), or Department of Community Affairs (DCA).

How to Apply
Applications for the pilot phase are being accepted through May 21, 2026. Member businesses interested in participating or learning more about eligibility requirements can visit the official portal:
